Calverton MW U19's 0-1 Mickleover Sports U19's - North Midlands U19 Leaqgue Div 2

Bloody hell - it was cold!!!!! The biting wind really got to the these old bones at this game.......
With Mrs. Kev not well, I was Billy No-Mates - and at half time I was wishing I'd stayed at home too... not that the game was poor - in fact it was very good. It was just that my face was leaking and my ears were freezing! Wrong hat again...should have worn the old Arsenal one, at least that would have kept my ears warm!
Surprisingly good standard of football from both teams, and although Calverton were battered 9-1 at Mickleover, you could tell from the off that that score was not going to be repeated. Calverton looked ok in defence and had the first real chancde of the game on 17 when a long range effort was well tipped over by the Sports' keeper. Finished 0-0 at the break, but a thoroughly entertaining first 45 minutes.. Rushed to the car at half-time and put the heater on full.
Mickleover started the second period on the front foot and their no.4 was unlucky on 55 when his well struck drive rebounded off the foot of the post with the Calvo keeper well beaten. The visitors did take the lead in the 62nd minute when their no.10 shirt tried his luck from the corner of the box and the effort crept past the dive of the unfortunate keeper and into the net.
Calvo never gave up though, and had a glorious opportunity to level on 78 when the Referee awarded them a penalty - a bit dubious to say the least! Calvo's no. 18 stepped up and fired to the keepers right - but the keeper had guessed right and made a decent diving save. F-T 0-1 A bit harsh on the home team who deserved at least a point from the game......
