Teversal 3-2 Worsbrough Bridge Athletic

Saturday 13th February 20210 -- NCEL Division 1

Lost my notepad - I can only assume in the Teversal Grange car-park. Not too bothered really - any one who finds it will not be able to read it anyway!! Added bonus is that this will be a shorter than usual blog entry.....
There were several other options open for us - but I chose this game because I like going to Tevie
Last time we were there the bloke on the gate tried ( unsuccessfully) to sell me a badge... and a bottle opener.... and a keyring!!! This time he did manage to pry the £1 change from my tenner out of my grasp, and I am now the proud owner of a Teversal FC keyring!! Anyone who knows me, knows that getting an extra £1 out of me is a real result......
Took my camera along to the game for the first time in ages....and the pictures do show me to be a bit rusty on the shutter!! Utter garbage most of them....

No. 10 Lee Garside netted the 1st goal for Bridge

Shove in the back, Ref!!!!

Close!
Good save...
The temperature was a bit on the low side again, but on this occasion it was yours truly who was moaning about being bloody cold....Kev was, as usual, wrapped up like he was going out into an arctic storm!!!
Freezing cold drizzle didn't help, but it's all becoming so usual now ... it's seems like it's always cold, raining or snowing !!
Worsbrough took the lead in the 24th minute. When Tevie keeper Jono Wilson went awol, the Tevie defence looked all at sea and when the ball was lifted into the six yard box, LEE GARSIDE was on hand to nod home.
The scores were level in the 28th minute when a well worked corner routine ended with Colin Cockerill's long range effort being deflected into the Worsbrough goal by KYLE GEE-PEMBERTON. Everyone in the box was expecting the corner to be fired into the box, but Dave Cockerell hit it to brother Colin some 30 yards from goal. He controlled and let fly and Pemberton deflected home.
Worsbrough almost regained the lead from the kick-off. As the ball was hooked at Wilson's goal from the halfway line, the keeper was somewhat relieved when the ball cracked off the crossbar and away to safety. H-T 1-1
Went into the clubhouse to catch up with the latest scores and grab a hot drink. The coffee was ok, but I have to say it was a bit disappointing to have to pay £0.80 for cuppa - probably the most expensive we have had ( excluding Field Mill!!).
Teversal looked a different team as the second half settled down, and Dave Cockerill down the left was a revelation. He kept running all game and for a player carrying a bit of timber, he was by far the best player on show......
It was Cockerill who set up the 2nd Tevie goal -- his cross from the left was straight onto the head of GEE-PEMBERTON six yards from goal. The header was on target but the ball in from Cockerill was superb.
Worsbrough, to their credit never let their heads drop, and with 2 minutes to go they drew level again, just as the Tevie faithful had predicted! It was a scrappy affair with poor defending to blame as DEAN SHIRT was given the chance to tap home from close range. The home team had chances to clear, but failed miserably and paid the price.
However, all was not lost -- straight from the re-start, the ball was played down the right to Gee-Pemberton and he raced to the goal-line before firing the ball in low at the near post where ROSS HENSHAW was on hand to delicately steer the ball home.... F-T 3-2
Raced to the car to get warm, but in my haste I emptied the contents of my coat pocket all over the place... however, and as previously mentioned, the only casualty was my note-book
