Surprising how many games were off..... a bit of frost nowadays is enough to frighten the match referees " I have to think of the players' safety" etc etc....
Well, when I were a lad, we played even if the pitch was frozzen over-- and the ball was a proper one, not a balloon ... and boots were made out of rock hard leather with wood studs......and shin pads were the Daily Mirror.......and keepers didn't have gloves.......
Come on refs.... games aren't called off very often in summer if the grounds are too hard due to drought, are they???......bloody nanny state!!
