South Normanton Ath 1-3 Kimberley Town

Tuesday 26th January 2010 -- CML Floodlit Cup 2nd round

Cold night at the Exchem Ground, but although the football wasn't of a very high standard, the company and banter were well worth the £3 entrance fee.

Had a right old natter with CML's Rob Hornby - and it's always a pleasure to spend time with "Wanderer" Richard Lane.

Kev's workmate Phil Mumby was also in attendance with friends -- likes a drink does Phil, and South Normanton's bar is very nice indeed!

Kimberley took the lead on 15 when their no. 6 jacket hammered the ball across the keeper after latching onto a neat ball into the box. Normo levelled soon after, a delightful lob from the edge of the box defeating the KImberley keeper. Sorry if details are a bit vague, but I didn't know any of the players, and the banter was more interesting than the game....H-T 1-1

What I do know is that the second Kimberley goal just after the break was a beauty... a cracking volley from just outside the area from their no. 7 shirt giving the home keeper no chance. Normo looked to have levelled soon after when the ball was headed home, but they were thwarted by an offside flag. Kimberley's no. 11 added their third, but Normo never gave up. The home no. 9 was guilty of the "On The Road's" miss of the season, when he skied the ball over from 3 yards out after being found by a great cross from the right. F-T 1-3
