Pinxton FC 3-1 Kimberley Town

Tuesday 8th September 2009 -- CML Supreme Division

Harry Hawkins

Decided, after much debate to visit Pinxton. to see them take on struggling Kimberley Town. There were oodles of other games we could have gone to, but this one looked likely to be the one that wasn't going to end up 0-0!

Only two match balls were available apparently, and one of them was flat!!! The other ball that kept appearing throughout the game was a nice yellow number that had Pinxton veteran keeper Dave McCarthy complaining that it almost broke his effing foot!!!!

Well, the first half was so bad it's hardly worth a mention.... the first first chance for the home team came in the TENTH second, then it all went horribly wrong. Pinxton did take the lead on 18 when a ball into the near post by Jay Cooper was bundled over the line by no.10 BEN BACON, but with the rain coming down in sheets it was all a bit scrappy and it was a relief when the Ref blew for half-time. H-T 1-0

Pinxton went further ahead on 50 when KIERAN DEBROUER curled a 20 yard free-kick past James Thelan - has to be said though that the wall looked very out of position, making the no. 11's job a lot easier than it should have been.

The home team's third goal in the 59th minute was a real gift.
Their no. 2 shirt fired in a decent enough cross, but Thelan should have collected. All he could do was flap at the ball, palming it straight to the feet of CRAIG HOUSLEY who fired it straight back across the hapless keeper into the net. Kimberley didn't give in though and reduced their arrears on 75 when right back JERMAINE WARD drove home a loose ball from 15 yards. F-T 3-1

Sorry for not producing a detailed report, but in all honesty it was a poor game and it is sometimes difficult to know what to write about!!!

Had a nice chat to Pinxton Secretary and CML forum regular Darrel during the second half - very interesting man......

This was not a great game, and some of the other games we could have gone to may have been a better standard, but who cares? No matter what we are served up, it only costs a few quid and most of the time the players are doing their best....

Must have been 50 -60 at Pinxton for this game - decent turn out on a very damp evening.

Saturday - Field Mill ---- Stags v Stevenage. Hoping to see the Stags get back on track after only picking up a single point from two away games
